Trump taps conservative commentator Katie Zacharia to be his next press secretary
President Trump says Katie Zacharia, a Truth Social adviser and former DHS spokesperson, is his new White House press secretary.

The White House has a new spokesperson. President Donald Trump said Friday on Truth Social that he has appointed Katie Zacharia as press secretary.
Trump wrote that he is confident she will get strong results for the country.
Who she is
Zacharia is a conservative commentator who is close to the president. A White House official first confirmed she had been offered the role. Trump's post a short time later made it official.
For a short time she handled press questions at the Department of Homeland Security. Most recently she has advised Trump Media and Technology Group on communications. That company operates Truth Social.
Zacharia lives in California. Earlier she did work for Fix California, a nonprofit that promotes conservative policy in that state. She is a familiar face on conservative TV shows.
Filling Leavitt's seat
She takes over the job Karoline Leavitt gave up in August to focus on her children. Leavitt still works for MAGA Inc., the super PAC that backs Trump.
The move is part of a wider pattern. Trump also lured Beni Rae Harmony away from Real America's Voice, where she covered the White House, to serve as an assistant press secretary.
