The UFC boss is staying in the fight business.

President Donald Trump said Saturday that he offered the job of White House press secretary to his friend Dana White. A person familiar with the matter said White is not taking the job.

Trump made the offer public in a social media post from his golf club in Florida. He called White "a violent Fighter and Warrior" and said he wanted White to bring several UFC fighters along as "assistants."

"We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!" Trump wrote.

A playful reply

White was in London on Saturday for a boxing event. He shared an image of Trump's post on Instagram along with a picture of himself behind the podium in the White House briefing room and the words "On to the next chapter."

The White House did not respond to questions about the post on Saturday. A UFC spokesperson also did not immediately comment.

A job still open

The press secretary post has been empty since Karoline Leavitt left at the end of August. Katie Zacharia held the job for five days before leaving after one appearance in front of reporters.

Trump also announced on Friday that Stephen Miller will replace Susie Wiles as his chief of staff.

White and Trump have been close for years. White spoke at the Republican National Conventions in 2016, 2020 and 2024. In June he staged a UFC card on the White House South Lawn for the country's 250th birthday and Trump's 80th birthday.
