Katie Zacharia was pulled from the press secretary job mid-interview with the Journal
Katie Zacharia left a Wall Street Journal interview after five days as press secretary when an adviser said JD Vance wanted to talk and she never returned.

Katie Zacharia's five-day run as White House press secretary ended in the middle of an interview. A Wall Street Journal reporter was in her office when she was called away and she never came back to the job or the sit-down.
Inside the office
The Journal described a sparse desk. Among the few personal items: a curling iron, heels, a makeup bag plus a white orchid.
A knock interrupted the sit-down: senior adviser Jason Miller said Vice President JD Vance wanted the two of them upstairs.
Zacharia stepped out. According to the paper she did not return.
Trump's earlier nudge
Earlier that day President Trump told journalists he had spoken with Zacharia on the way to a new helipad. He said he told her she did not have to keep the job if she did not want it and that she should reconsider.
She was out soon after. Karoline Leavitt's former post was vacant again after less than a week.
