Katie Zacharia greets White House reporters by refusing to answer anything
In her first week as White House press secretary, Katie Zacharia walked up to reporters on the North Lawn and opened by saying she would not take questions.

Taking questions from reporters is the heart of a White House press secretary's job. Katie Zacharia opened a Friday encounter with the press corps by announcing she would not be doing it.
A brief stop on the North Lawn
Zacharia has been under fire for describing herself as a lawyer even though she never passed the bar exam. Reporters wanted to ask her about that on Friday.
When she walked up to the crowd of journalists on the North Lawn, her first words were, "I'm not taking any questions."
She went on to say she wants to work well with the press. She told reporters to reach out to her by phone call, text or email instead of on camera.
Why it stood out
The press secretary does not need a law degree or a law license. Zacharia does hold a law degree from Pepperdine but she is not a lawyer. What the role does require is answering the media's questions.
The moment came during her very first week in the post.
