Kaia Gerber writes a raw letter to late brother Presley and says he always went first

Kaia Gerber has opened up about losing her brother Presley Gerber in a long and emotional letter to him.

A letter full of memories

The model shared the note on Instagram on Sunday. She added childhood pictures and video clips of the two of them. She admitted she is struggling to put her grief into words and wrote that she is "quite literally" on her knees.

Kaia described Presley as her protector and her best friend. She said that being his sister was always the thing she liked most about herself. She also remembered how he stayed gentle even when people were cruel to him.

The earrings

One memory stood out. As a little girl Kaia was too frightened to get her ears pierced, so Presley did it before her.

She wrote that when she held the earring taken from his body, all she could think was "that belongs to you." She added that he always went first and that she desperately wishes he had not gone first this time.

Her final lines named Presley as the great love of her life. "i was born loving you. i will die loving you," she wrote.

A family in mourning

Kaia's letter came right after her mother Cindy Crawford posted her own tribute. Crawford called Presley a beautiful soul and thanked people for their love and support.

Presley was found unresponsive at a sober-living home in Santa Monica on September 20. He had checked in just hours before. Police are investigating a suspected overdose and do not suspect foul play. His official cause of death is still pending.
