Janelle Monáe went full monster for Halloween this year. The singer turned up to her own costume bash looking downright scary as a character called Mother Creature, then let loose on the dance floor.

Video shot inside a house in Los Angeles shows a fellow partygoer in costume, apparently a friend, dropping into a low squat right in front of Janelle.

Janelle keeps her phone in one hand while running her fake claws close to the dancer's thighs. The moment ends sweetly when the friend stands back up to wrap Janelle in a big hug.

Meet Mother Creature

On Instagram the star walked fans through the transformation. The look called for loads of prosthetics, pale sickly skin, pointy ears, extra long nails plus grimy teeth.

Let's just say the character would make an ideal date for Gollum.

Janelle also posted footage of Mother Creature creeping around between trees and bushes. The caption asked, "Who wants to party with Mother Creature?!"

A representative for Janelle has been asked for comment but has not responded so far.
