Deep Purple scraps two German concerts as frontman Ian Gillan lands in the hospital
Deep Purple called off its Leipzig and Hamburg concerts after a medical emergency put lead singer Ian Gillan in the hospital. Tickets stay valid.

Deep Purple lead singer Ian Gillan is in the hospital after a medical emergency, forcing the veteran rock band to pull the plug on its next two concerts.
The group shared the news with fans on Instagram on Saturday morning. Saturday night's show at the QI Arena in Leipzig and Sunday night's stop at the Sporthalle in Hamburg are both off.
What the band said
In the post the band wrote that it was announcing "with great disappointment" that Deep Purple would be "unable to perform as scheduled" at the two German venues.
The band said the cancellations were "a result of a medical emergency involving Ian Gillan, which has resulted in his current hospitalization." No details about his condition were shared.
Fans can hold on to their tickets
Deep Purple acknowledged that the news came at the last minute for concertgoers. The band said it will work to find a "suitable time to reschedule both these shows."
Anyone who already bought a ticket does not need to do anything for now. The band said "all tickets purchased will be valid for the rescheduled dates."
