Two helicopters smash together while landing in Nepal's Everest region, killing an Indian tourist
Two helicopters ferrying hikers collided as they came in to land at Pheriche in Nepal's Everest region. A 47-year-old tourist from India was killed.

A pair of helicopters slammed into each other on Tuesday as both tried to touch down in Nepal's Everest region. One person is dead and two others were hurt.
Video of the moment shows the two aircraft flying very close together as they approach the landing area. Then they strike one another and come apart in the air as pieces scatter in every direction.
The crash happened in the village of Pheriche, which sits about 13,780 feet above sea level. The choppers were reportedly shuttling hikers around the region during the busy trekking season.
Who was hurt
Local officials said the person killed was a tourist from India who was 47 years old.
Officials said a New Zealand passenger suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening. A pilot was also hurt and received treatment.
Why helicopters fill the skies there
There are no roads in that part of the mountains. Helicopters are the only practical way to move people from place to place.
Investigators are now working to figure out what caused the two aircraft to collide.
