Small plane overshoots Cuenca runway and tumbles down a slope onto a busy road
Video from Ecuador shows a Cessna sliding past the end of the airstrip and landing on traffic lanes below. Both people on board survived.

A small plane in Ecuador ran out of runway, went over the edge of a hill and came down on a highway. The whole thing was captured on video.
The footage
The clip was shot in Cuenca, a city in southern Ecuador. It shows the aircraft coming over the top of the slope before dropping onto the crowded road below.
The plane bounces across the rough ground and finally stops sideways across the lanes. A closer look shows the front of the aircraft badly crushed.
Emergency crews hurried to the site to help and blocked off the road.
What went wrong
The U.S. Sun reports that the Cessna 208 landed at Mariscal Lamar Airport with too much speed to brake in time. It slid off the end and over the hillside instead. The flight had come from Guayaquil.
Ecuador's civil aviation agency says the two people on board survived and are in stable condition.
The airport shut down to flights for a short time and returned to normal later that day. Its cargo reportedly included valuables belonging to the country's Central Bank.
