Ezri Konsa scored his first goal for Arsenal and Gabriel headed in the second on his 200th Premier League appearance as the Gunners beat Everton 2-0 on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium.

The win pulled Arsenal level on points with Manchester City at the top of the table after City lost 2-1 at Aston Villa earlier in the day. City stays first on goal difference.

Konsa, who joined Arsenal from Aston Villa in the summer, scored in the seventh minute on a rainy afternoon in north London. Gabriel headed a Martin Ødegaard corner across goal, Jordan Pickford flapped at it and Konsa bundled the loose ball in at the back post. It was Arsenal's first set-piece goal of the season.

Gabriel seals it

Gabriel stayed down early in the second half after making a clearance but returned after treatment. In the 68th minute substitute Bruno Guimarães slipped Ben White in down the right. White, making his 200th Arsenal appearance, crossed to the back post where an unmarked Gabriel powered a header into the bottom corner.

Mikel Arteta was booked for leaving his technical area shortly before he made a triple change.

Everton let chances slip

Everton had its moments. Thierno Barry and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall wasted the visitors' best openings. Just before halftime a weak back header by White fell to Barry, but David Raya saved his finish with ease.

Raya also got away with a poor punch from a corner when a shot from Tyrique George flicked off White and flashed past the post. Dewsbury-Hall glanced a free header wide from a James Garner cross seven minutes from time.

David Moyes' side has now lost two in a row after last weekend's 2-0 home loss to Chelsea ended its unbeaten start. Everton had won just once in its previous 21 trips to the Emirates.

Rotation after Munich

Arteta made five changes after Wednesday's 2-2 Champions League draw at Bayern Munich, including a first league start of the season for striker Viktor Gyökeres. Arsenal played without Bukayo Saka, who hurt his quad in Munich.

It was Arsenal's seventh win in eight league games and its ninth straight home win.
