Eric Deters takes Kimberly Guilfoyle to court over claims his texts were fake
The Trump donor wants $1 million and an apology from the former ambassador to Greece. He says a phone recording he plans to release could rock the White House.

Eric Deters has turned his feud with Kimberly Guilfoyle into a court case.
In a video posted Thursday, the Trump backer who once ran for Congress in Kentucky said his defamation complaint against the former U.S. envoy is now on file.
What he is asking for
Deters wants three things. He is demanding an apology, a public statement from Guilfoyle admitting she was wrong to call the texts between them fake plus $1 million.
The complaint centers on her denial of messages published last week by the Wall Street Journal. According to the report, those messages show her seeking money from Deters to settle what she owed. Deters is also suing because her camp labeled him "a known blackmailer."
He compares her to Apate, the figure from Greek myth tied to deceit and trickery.
A recording he says is coming
Deters says he has audio of a phone call that he intends to make public Friday. He claims what is on it could do serious damage to the administration and even hurt the 2028 White House hopes of JD Vance and Marco Rubio.
Deters also put a batch of his own recent emails into the complaint. He says they were addressed to Donald Trump Jr. as well as Guilfoyle and a few others.
How this started
Guilfoyle stepped down from her post in Athens after Deters claimed she offered him access to Trump officials if he would pay off her $100,000 American Express balance. President Trump was reportedly angry about the alleged messages and said he and others in his administration did not like what they saw.
These are claims in a civil complaint and nothing has been proven in court. Guilfoyle has not responded to the suit publicly.
