The Indianapolis Colts are now willing to trade Jonathan Taylor. Several teams have called about the star running back and the talks are active, ESPN and NFL Network reported Saturday.

The Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks are among the teams that have shown at least some interest.

Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon met with Taylor this week for a long talk about his future. She is a big fan of the three-time Pro Bowler and the team would rather keep him for its rebuild. But Indianapolis also knows how much he could bring back in a deal.

A McCaffrey-sized price

The Colts want something close to what San Francisco paid Carolina for Christian McCaffrey in 2022. That deal cost the 49ers second-, third-, fourth- and fifth-round picks.

Taylor, 27, is signed through 2028 at $15 million next year and $9.46 million the year after. The Colts already paid his $15 million signing bonus before this season, which makes him even more appealing to a buyer.

The teardown keeps going

Indianapolis has been selling all week. It traded Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson and Pro Bowl defensive tackle DeForest Buckner on Tuesday for a 2027 third-round pick, a 2027 fourth-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick.

The Colts are also talking about wide receiver Josh Downs, who asked for a trade this week. They have told teams he is worth a third-round pick. Both Downs and Taylor are expected to play Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Coach Shane Steichen told players the trades are part of the business and asked them to stay professional. The moves fall to a new owner and interim general manager Ed Dodds.

"The day may come"

Taylor said Thursday he has not asked to be traded and is "always proud to wear the horseshoe." He admitted a move could happen. "Whether you like it or not, the day may come," he said.

Taylor is second in Colts history with 8,185 rushing yards, behind only Edgerrin James. He holds the team record with 77 rushing touchdowns. This season he has 587 yards and is tied for the NFL lead with eight rushing scores.
