Colts coach Shane Steichen says Josh Downs is ready to go against the Jaguars despite his trade request
Josh Downs asked the Colts for a trade this week, but Shane Steichen says the receiver practiced and will play his normal role Sunday in Jacksonville.

Josh Downs wants out of Indianapolis, but he is still suiting up Sunday. Colts coach Shane Steichen said the receiver will play his usual role against the Jacksonville Jaguars despite asking for a trade this week.
Downs made the request in the middle of a major shake-up. General manager Chris Ballard was fired Oct. 19. This week the Colts traded cornerstone guard Quenton Nelson to the Seahawks and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the 49ers.
Steichen said he talked with Downs in recent days and told him to stay locked in. "Obviously you requested a trade. But you're on this football team and you've got to show up," Steichen recalled telling him.
"He's a pro"
The coach had no complaints about Downs' week. "He's a pro. He practiced this week. He's ready to go," Steichen said. "We're expecting for him to be his best on Sunday."
Downs sounded frustrated Wednesday when asked if he wanted to stay. "I'm here right now. I'm where my feet are," he said. "We've got the Jags this weekend."
A bigger load this season
Downs leads the Colts with 307 receiving yards. He has been asked to do more with No. 1 receiver Alec Pierce out and tight end Tyler Warren missing the past two games.
That extra attention from defenses has been tough. His 56.5% catch rate is a career low.
Downs is in the last year of his rookie deal. Other teams have asked about him, but it is not clear the Colts are willing to move him. "I'm open to whatever," Downs said. "Whatever comes my way, comes my way."
