Winless Chargers place Derwin James on injured reserve after a setback in his hamstring rehab
The 0-6 Chargers put Pro Bowl safety Derwin James Jr. on injured reserve Saturday. He will miss at least four more games, starting Sunday against the Rams.

The Los Angeles Chargers have officially shut down Derwin James Jr. for a while. The team placed its Pro Bowl safety on injured reserve with a hamstring injury on Saturday.
James has not played since a loss at Buffalo on Sept. 27. The move was not a surprise. Coach Jim Harbaugh said earlier this week that James had suffered a setback in his rehab.
Going on injured reserve means James must sit out at least four more games. That stretch starts Sunday when the winless Chargers (0-6) face the Los Angeles Rams (3-4).
Two cornerbacks join the roster
To fill the spot, the Chargers signed cornerback Isas Waxter to the active roster. They also promoted cornerback Kaiir Elam from the practice squad.
Waxter spent last season on the Chargers' practice squad after first signing with Seattle as an undrafted free agent. He has played in two games this season as a practice squad call-up.
Elam brings more experience. He has started 19 of his 43 career regular-season games with Buffalo, Dallas and Tennessee.
More bodies out for Sunday
James is not the only Charger missing the Rams game. Left guard Kayode Awosika will sit for a fifth straight game with a leg injury.
Defensive back Deane Leonard (concussion) and wide receiver Brenen Thompson (quad and hamstring) have also been ruled out.
