Casey Anthony has joined the prep work for YNW Melly's next murder trial according to people familiar with the case.

Sources say she is serving as a research assistant for private investigator Pat McKenna who was brought on by a firm representing the rapper. Melly faces a January 2027 retrial in Broward County on two first-degree murder counts.

The state claims Melly fatally shot pals who rapped as YNW Sakchaser (Anthony Williams) and YNW Juvy (Christopher Thomas Jr.) during an October 2018 car ride then with Cortlen Henry known as YNW Bortlen arranged the scene to mimic a drive-by attack.

Jurors hung in July 2023 so the first case ended without a verdict. Henry took a no-contest plea in September 2025 on an accessory count and received a decade behind bars followed by probation.

Melly has been locked up since his February 2019 arrest and has pleaded not guilty. Requests for comment from Casey Pat Melly's lawyers and family drew no reply according to reports.

A Florida jury cleared Casey in 2011 on the murder child-abuse and manslaughter counts tied to daughter Caylee's death leaving her among the most watched defendants of that decade.
