Broncos stop the Chiefs on five straight plays at the goal line to win 28-24 and take first place
Denver held Kansas City out of the end zone on five plays in the final 35 seconds, ending with a Malcolm Roach sack of Patrick Mahomes, to win 28-24.

The Denver Broncos made their fans sweat. Then they made the stop.
Kansas City reached the Denver 4-yard line with 35 seconds left on Sunday. The Broncos held them out of the end zone on five straight plays to win 28-24.
Denver improved to 6-2 and moved into first place in the AFC West. It was the Broncos' 15th straight win in a one-score game.
Five plays
Kenneth Walker III ran to the 1 on first down. Patrick Mahomes threw incomplete on second down. Backup safety JL Skinner stopped Walker for no gain on third down.
On fourth down, Mahomes thought he had thrown the winning touchdown to Rashee Rice. But the play was wiped out by a false start on right tackle Jaylon Moore.
"You have to go with whatever's called," Mahomes said. "But a lot of times, in those big moments, the little stuff doesn't get called like that." Coach Andy Reid said he did not see a false start.
On the final play from the 6, Mahomes was chased by Jonathon Cooper and sacked by defensive tackle Malcolm Roach.
'A few Hail Marys'
Denver had trailed 24-13 in the fourth quarter before scoring two touchdowns to go ahead.
Tackle Mike McGlinchey admitted he said "a few Hail Marys" at the end. "Our defense did what our defense does," he said.
Receiver Marvin Mims Jr. joked that games like this are "going to take some years off of my life."
