Police in Bend, Oregon, had been to the home of the teen accused in the Silver Rail Elementary School shooting many times before the attack, according to reports.

Records kept by local police list a string of visits to the teen's family address in 2023 alone. Officers were sent out over reports of harassment, loud noise and a fight at home.

On March 2 of that year, a woman told police that Shauntai May Nickerson, the teen's mom, had left her injured.

More visits in 2024 and 2025

The visits kept coming. Over 2024 and 2025, officers responded to the house for an unwanted subject, a welfare check and a second domestic dispute. Fire and rescue crews also went there in March 2025 for what looks like a medical call.

In July of this year, police were called about an alleged theft. Officers returned on October 17 and 19, apparently to follow up on the shooting.

The records do not make clear who placed each call, who was involved or how each one ended.

The attack

Authorities say the shooter, identified as Griffin J. John II, began firing inside Silver Rail Elementary on October 15. Four people were killed: three children and a teacher.

Investigators say he used a gun bought by Nickerson. Since then she has stood by her son and maintains that he was a good kid at heart.
