Zendaya recreated Halle Berry's iconic 2000 X-Men premiere look for Halloween and Halle loved every bit of it
Zendaya paid Halloween tribute to Halle Berry with the same vintage two-piece the Oscar winner wore in 2000. Berry answered with a stream of red hearts.

Some Halloween costumes are about scares. Zendaya went with a love letter instead. The woman she honored saw it right away.
On Saturday, Oct. 31, her longtime stylist Law Roach posted photos of the Dune star dressed as Halle Berry. Not just any Halle Berry moment either. Zendaya stepped into the exact look Berry wore to the New York premiere of X-Men in July 2000.
That outfit came from a French fashion house's fall 2000 collection. It paired a string bikini top in butter yellow, brown and white with matching low-slung wide-leg pants. Zendaya finished it with tinted shades, pointed heels and her new short pixie cut, which made the side-by-side photos almost spooky.
Halle sent the love back
Berry did not stay quiet. She shared the comparison photos on her own Instagram Stories and left a row of red hearts for her younger fan. It was a sweet full circle moment between two Black women who have shaped Hollywood style in their own eras.
The tribute had been building for weeks. When Zendaya debuted the pixie at the Emmys in September, Roach said the cut was inspired by Berry's famous short hair. Berry reposted the news back then and declared that Zendaya had absolutely killed it that night.
Not everyone was satisfied with just a near perfect match. The stylist who dressed Berry back in 2000 pointed out that the original look included a sparkly diamond body chain. Fans laughed that this was the only thing missing.
A history of tributes
This is not the first time Zendaya has used fashion to salute a legend. Back in 2013 she dressed as the late Aaliyah for a Halloween benefit. She has also paid tribute to Cher at a major music ceremony.
Berry has talked before about how proud she is to watch Zendaya rise. She once said the younger star's success is proof that things are changing for Black women in Hollywood. Moments like this one show what that progress looks like when the generations cheer each other on.
Zendaya's next big role arrives soon. Dune: Part Three opens in December, so expect plenty more fashion moments on the press tour.
