Yankees and GM Brian Cashman agree to a new contract
Cashman, the longest-serving GM in franchise history, will stay on after 29 seasons. The deal comes days after Aaron Boone was brought back as manager.

Brian Cashman is staying in the Bronx.
The New York Yankees general manager has reached a new deal with the team to keep the job he has held since 1998. Cashman said Wednesday that both sides were just ironing out the final details.
"We're locked and loaded," he said.
A long run without a title
Cashman, 59, is the longest-serving general manager in franchise history. The Yankees have posted a winning record in every one of his 29 seasons in charge.
Under his watch the club has won four World Series titles and 15 American League East crowns. But the Yankees have not won it all since 2009, when they beat the Philadelphia Phillies.
New York's run of 13 straight playoff trips without a championship is tied for the fourth-longest such streak in MLB postseason history.
The same leadership returns
The Yankees won 93 games this season, their third straight year with at least 90 wins. They finished second in the AL East behind the Tampa Bay Rays, who then swept them in the AL Division Series.
The Cashman news follows a deal earlier this week to bring back Aaron Boone for a 10th season as manager.
