Ex-friend Bilaal Salaam claims Will Smith stood behind Jada Pinkett Smith after she allegedly threatened him
New court papers from Bilaal Salaam claim Will Smith told him "You heard what my wife said" after Jada Pinkett Smith allegedly threatened him over a memoir.

Bilaal Salaam is now claiming Will Smith took his wife's side after Jada Pinkett Smith allegedly threatened to have him killed.
Salaam, a onetime friend of the Smiths who is suing Jada, makes the claim in new court papers. He dates the conversation to roughly October 5, 2021.
According to the filing, Salaam was planning a memoir about the years he spent around the Smith family.
The alleged phone call
Salaam says he was on a call with Will and Jada along with Will's friend Charlie Mack. He alleges Jada warned that she would arrange his death unless he dropped the book.
He says he then asked Will whether he had heard what Jada just said. Salaam claims Will answered, "You heard what my wife said."
After the slap
Salaam says he told the couple in October 2021 to stop contacting him. He claims Duane Martin called him in March 2022 after Will's notorious slap at the Oscars and asked for help cleaning up the public relations fallout. Salaam says he turned that down.
He says the couple's wealth and influence made him treat the alleged threats as real.
Salaam's lawsuit against Jada accuses her of causing him emotional distress.
