Trump jokes that he would pack up for Israel and run the country if Americans ever get tired of him
President Trump joked on Election Day that he would relocate to Israel and become prime minister if Americans ever tire of him. He claimed 99% approval there.

President Donald Trump already has a backup plan in case voters at home ever sour on him. He says he would simply head to Israel and take over as prime minister.
He made the crack during a TV interview on Election Day Tuesday. He bragged that his approval rating in Israel is a stunning 99%.
"In fact, if people ever got tired of me in the U.S., I'll move to Israel, become prime minister," Trump said.
The numbers at home
His standing in the United States looks very different. His approval rating here is sitting at only 32%.
Trump stuck to his claim about Israel anyway. He said he has the "highest approval rating of anybody in history" there but offered no poll to back it up.
Talk of aid and Iran
The joke came up while he was talking about U.S. ties with Israel. He called the country a great partner and pointed to his administration's moves against Iran.
He also said the U.S. plans to cut off the $4 billion it sends Israel each year starting in 2027.
This is not the first time he has floated the idea. He told a similar joke in May and claimed the same 99% support then too.
