A toddler climbs onto her family's golden retriever like he's the comfiest bed in the house and he doesn't mind one bit

Golden retrievers have one main job. It is being loved. A video from an Instagram mom named Amy shows her family's golden doing that job perfectly while her toddler daughter treats him like a living pillow.

The clip starts with the dog stretched out on the carpet, minding his own business. Then the little girl wanders over, plops down beside him and starts gently stroking his fur. A few seconds later she decides sitting is not close enough and lies right on top of him. The dog does not move an inch.

When he finally gets up, she simply follows him, wrapping her arms around him from behind for a hug. She gives him scratches, pats his back and then plants a kiss on him. He turns his head toward her as if to return the favor. The song playing over the video, which repeats the line "my most special friend," sends it over the top.

Amy's caption is the part that got people. She wrote that she never imagined the dog she got in her 20s would grow into her daughter's childhood dog. She added that knowing he will one day be her biggest heartbreak and her daughter's first is something she will never be ready for.

The post has passed 5 million views and more than 413,000 likes. Commenters called it the best way to grow up. One declared the love of a golden retriever absolutely pawfect. Many shared photos of their own childhood dogs and admitted they cried before finishing the video.

For now the toddler has a best friend who never complains about being used as furniture. That might be the sweetest deal in the whole house.
