T.I. will lead Tuskegee's homecoming parade as grand marshal and perform with the Marching Crimson Pipers at halftime

Rapper T.I. has two jobs lined up for Tuskegee University's homecoming. He will ride at the head of the parade as grand marshal. Later that day he will join the school's celebrated marching band on the field for the halftime show.

The historically Black university confirmed the plans in its own program for Homecoming 102. This year's celebration carries the theme "A Renaissance Family Affair." Word of the booking first got out on Oct. 15.

A family touch

The theme fits. Heiress Harris, the Atlanta-born rapper's youngest daughter, is scheduled to perform the national anthem before kickoff.

Tuskegee hosts Miles College on Nov. 7 at Cleve Abbott Memorial Stadium. The university has set kickoff for 2:30 p.m. Central time. The parade comes first that morning.

A sound he already borrowed

This will not be the first time T.I. and the Marching Crimson Pipers have shared a stage of sorts. Earlier this year he featured the band in the music video for his song "Trauma Bond." The track samples "Ball N' Parlay," a number fans closely link with the Tuskegee band.

That video brought the band's sound into his music. Next month the partnership moves from the screen to the stadium, where T.I. is expected to perform with the band during halftime.

Homecoming is the yearly weekend when current students reunite with alumni and other supporters of the school. This year one of hip-hop's best-known names will be part of the show.
