Savannah State homecoming fills Alexis Circle with band cheer and Tiger pride
Savannah State's Powerhouse of the South band cheer team and Divine 9 strolls power homecoming week with Yard Fest and a step show ahead.

Savannah State homecoming week is in full roar and the campus soundtrack is impossible to miss. Brass cheer and Divine 9 strolls are turning Alexis Circle into a stage.
Powerhouse on the plaza
The Powerhouse of the South brought live sound to Morning Break coverage as the cheer team hit precise routines for Tiger pride. Band members drum majors and dancers stacked the plaza with the kind of energy only an HBCU homecoming can bottle.
Drum majors offered a fresh performance preview as the weekend kicked into gear. Fans got a taste of what is coming for the big celebration stretches still ahead.
Yard Fest Friday energy
Greek organizations showed off strolls and hyped Friday's Yard Fest at noon in Alexis Circle plus the Greek Step Show at 7 p.m. Homecoming co-chair Moncello Stewart thanked students faculty staff and alumni for the grind that makes the week land.
This is more than a pep rally. It is a reunion a flex and a reminder that Savannah State's culture travels from the practice field to the plaza without losing the smile.
Why it hits
HBCU homecomings feed generations. Parents alumni and first-years share the same songs the same steps and the same loud joy. Savannah State's week is that feeling in real time.
If you are anywhere near Tiger Nation this weekend follow the drums. The band will find you. The cheer team will lift you. And the circle will keep moving long after the last note fades.
