Newlyweds Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have run into an unexpected opponent in Ohio: the people who live next door.

The fence plan

The couple wants to put up a 6-foot black aluminum fence around their lakeside property in the Cleveland area. Their project team laid out the design at a local Architectural Review Board session roughly a month ago, according to a transcript of the meeting.

Under the plan, the fence would sit about 2 feet in from the property line so it stays clear of underground sewer pipes. The team also described plans to plant a large number of trees, which would likely give the pop star and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end more privacy.

A neighbor objects

A nearby resident named Katherine Bolton told the board that the aging sewer line worries her most. She argued the new trees would be planted too close to it and could damage the pipe over time.

Bolton also hinted she doubts the singer will stay long. At one point she suggested the homeowner could simply sell the place next year and move somewhere else.

Other residents raised a more unusual concern. The neighborhood is home to plenty of deer and some locals fear an animal could get hurt on the fence posts. The dispute was first reported by Cleveland.com.

A busy year for the couple

The two tied the knot this past July with Madison Square Garden as the venue. Since then Kelce has been back on the field as the Chiefs opened the season with four straight wins.

Swift has spoken warmly about Cleveland in recent months. Not every neighbor seems to share the love.
