Saquon Barkley looks ready to go. The Philadelphia Eagles running back carries no injury designation into Sunday night's game against the Washington Commanders.

Barkley did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. He was a limited participant Friday.

He went into Monday's game against the Dallas Cowboys with a hamstring injury. Then his back locked up on him during the game and he missed part of the second half. He played only nine snaps but got the ball every time he was on the field, finishing with 71 yards and a touchdown.

"I like playing football"

"I would hope so; I believe I'll be able to," Barkley said after Friday's practice when he was asked whether he expects to play.

"There's one day I'm not going to be playing football. Whenever that is, I don't want to look back and be like, 'I could have given it a chance and I didn't.' It's kind of what I live by," he said. "I'm going to try my best to just keep recovering, being smart, but I like playing football, so if I have an opportunity to play, I'm going to try my best to play."

A thin backfield

Philadelphia needs him. Running backs Tank Bigsby, Will Shipley, Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele are all on injured reserve. That leaves Jaydon Blue and Elijah Mitchell as the Eagles' other options.

The Eagles (2-5) will again be without their top receivers, DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and Dontayvion Wicks (ankle), as they try to end a five-game slide.

Linebacker Jihaad Campbell, cornerback Jonathan Jones and returner Britain Covey have also been ruled out. Nolan Smith has no designation after missing last week's game with a concussion.
