Philadelphia's offense will look very different on Sunday.

The Eagles ruled running back Saquon Barkley out on Friday for Sunday's home game against the Carolina Panthers. Barkley did not practice all week because of a hamstring injury and will miss his second straight game. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is also out after doctors found a small blood clot in his calf so Tanner McKee will start.

Thin at running back

The team placed running back Will Shipley on injured reserve with a foot injury. With Tank Bigsby also on injured reserve, Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele are the only healthy running backs on the active roster. Jaydon Blue and Ian Wheeler are on the practice squad if Philadelphia wants more depth.

Smith is back

There was better news at receiver. DeVonta Smith has no injury designation after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury. He was a full participant in Friday's practice and said he felt good. Smith has 19 catches for 235 yards with one touchdown this season.

Dontayvion Wicks is also set to play after a hamstring issue limited him this week. Marquise Brown is cleared too after missing three games.

More missing pieces

Edge rusher Jalyx Hunt (knee and ankle) and defensive back Michael Carter II (abdomen) are out while edge rusher A.J. Epenesa (back) is doubtful. Guard Landon Dickerson, lineman Drew Kendall, tight ends Grant Calcaterra and Eli Stowers plus cornerback Jakorian Bennett are questionable.

Rookie Cole Payton will back up McKee. Joe Milton, signed off the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad this week, is the newest quarterback on the roster. The Eagles have lost three straight games.
