Red Bulls snap Inter Miami's win streak 2-0 as Lionel Messi comes off the bench after his trip to Spain
A Casemiro own goal and an Emil Forsberg finish gave the New York Red Bulls a 2-0 win over Inter Miami and moved them into a playoff spot.

Lionel Messi started on the bench and could not save Inter Miami's winning streak. The New York Red Bulls beat Miami 2-0 in Harrison, New Jersey, on Saturday to end its run of three straight wins.
Messi had a busy week before the game. He flew to Oviedo, Spain, on Thursday and accepted the Princess of Asturias Award for Sports there on Friday.
Miami was already behind when he came on in the 56th minute. Casemiro, the former Real Madrid and Manchester United midfielder, had turned a Cade Cowell cross into his own net in the seventh minute while American teenager Julian Hall pressured him.
A spark but no goal
Messi, who leads MLS with 25 goals, gave Miami a lift. One of his passes split the New York defense and set up Miami's best chance to tie the game. Telasco Segovia's shot hit the crossbar.
Miami kept pushing for an equalizer late but left space behind. Emil Forsberg finished a pass from Cameron Harper to put the game away for New York.
Streaks end on both sides
The loss ended more than Miami's winning run. Messi's streak of 13 straight games for club and country with a goal or an assist also came to a close.
Miami stayed in second place in the overall table, 15 points behind Nashville SC, which clinched the Supporters' Shield earlier Saturday.
The three points were huge for the Red Bulls. They moved into a playoff position with three regular-season games left.
