The NFL is weighing whether to move the Philadelphia Eagles' Nov. 1 home game against the Washington Commanders out of NBC's Sunday Night Football window after both teams opened the season with losing records.

Why the game is on the bubble

The Week 8 rivalry matchup is currently set for 7:20 p.m. Central on NBC. Philadelphia sat at 2-3 after a three-game skid that included a London loss. Washington was 1-3-1 following an overtime tie with the Giants.

League flexible-scheduling rules let the NFL swap Sunday night games when stronger alternatives emerge. Analysts have floated Bills-Ravens and Vikings-Lions as possible replacements if the Eagles and Commanders keep stumbling.

Decision window

The league's next major flex decision for that slot is expected around Oct. 20 and will lean on this weekend's results. Philadelphia hosts the Carolina Panthers and Washington faces the San Francisco 49ers.

A move would drop Eagles-Commanders into a Sunday afternoon window instead of national primetime. Network and stadium logistical rules limit which games can slide into the night slot on short notice.

What fans are saying

Some Eagles fans joked about losing the national stage while others welcomed an earlier kickoff. Either way the rivalry still lands in early November with both clubs fighting to climb back into the NFC East race.
