Nick Bosa will have to wait at least one more week.

The San Francisco 49ers ruled their star defensive end out for Monday night's game against the Washington Commanders on Saturday. Bosa is still working his way back from a calf injury and he did not practice all week.

Not a surprise to his coach

Bosa had said last week that he hoped to play against Washington. The team held out some hope too. Coach Kyle Shanahan said the news was about what he expected.

"We would've been pleasantly surprised if he could go," Shanahan said. He added that Bosa was not wrong to feel optimistic but the team wanted to make sure he was fully healthy and that another week would help.

Evans and Juszczyk

Receiver Mike Evans is questionable after he missed every practice this week with what Shanahan called Achilles soreness. Evans did conditioning work on the side. Shanahan said the team will know more on Monday. Evans has already played in games this season after missing practice during the week.

Fullback Kyle Juszczyk has no injury tag and will return from the knee sprain and bone bruise he suffered in Week 4 against the Denver Broncos. That injury was first expected to cost him two to three weeks. Shanahan called his quick recovery really impressive.

The rest of the report

The 49ers also ruled out receiver Deebo Samuel with a hamstring injury, safety Marques Sigle with an ankle injury and linebacker Garret Wallow with a hamstring injury.

Receiver Christian Kirk is questionable. He has been out since the start of training camp with a calf injury and was limited in all three practices this week. Rookie defensive tackle James Thompson Jr. is back after missing several weeks with a high ankle sprain.

San Francisco is coming off a win over the Seattle Seahawks.
