Michael Tracey is escorted out of an Ithaca Common Council meeting after an angry outburst
The writer who tried to unmask the Cornell Jane Doe demanded the mayor resign during a debate over event permits for Cornell groups.

Michael Tracey caused a scene at an Ithaca Common Council meeting and it was caught on video.
Tracey previously asked his followers on X to identify the former Cornell student who is suing seven fraternity members over an alleged drugging and sexual assault. He appeared Wednesday night while council members were getting ready to vote on whether to pause permits for events held by Cornell and its affiliated groups.
The outburst
According to the campus newspaper, Tracey tried to move for reconsideration after he was not called as one of the public speakers. Mayor Robert Cantelmo told him he was not eligible to make motions.
He then claimed the council had thrown away his request to speak and called on the mayor to step down while he was led out.
A tense town
The council later approved the moratorium after hours of debate. The Cornell case has kept tensions high on the Ivy League campus and across the city.
