Indiana county council hopeful Jaime West told Piers Morgan she drank three beers to calm her nerves before the forum clip that made her go viral.
Jaime West now says alcohol played a part in the slurred forum appearance that turned her into an internet sensation.
The question
The Indiana county council candidate sat down with Piers Morgan. He asked her directly whether she had been drinking before a general election candidates forum held earlier this month.
West said yes. She told him she had a beer to steady her nerves.
One became three
Morgan kept pushing on how much she had. West then admitted it was not just one. By her count she had three beers before the clip was recorded.
She maintained she was "not that intoxicated" at the forum. She also told Morgan she was completely sober for her interview with him.
Why the clip blew up
At the forum West called for firing every MAGA Republican. She described them as racist and dumb and said she does not like being around them.
No regrets
The beers have not changed her mind. West says she stands firmly behind everything she said that night.
