Michael Beasley stops fellow former NBA player Delonte West in the first round of their boxing match in Miami
Former NBA players Michael Beasley and Delonte West boxed Friday at Brand Risk 16 in Miami and Beasley won by first-round stoppage in an exhibition bout.

Two former NBA players traded basketball shoes for boxing gloves on Friday night and it did not last long.
Michael Beasley stopped Delonte West in the first round of their heavyweight bout at the Brand Risk 16 card in Miami. West went down after a few short punches and could not beat the count. The bout was listed as an exhibition so it does not count on either man's record.
Reach made the difference
At 6-foot-10, Beasley used his reach to stay outside the range of the 6-foot-3 West. West charged forward throwing wild punches and landed one good shot before tiring.
The two had history from their playing days. They faced each other in the NBA and in the Chinese Basketball Association.
Two long careers
Beasley, 37, was the No. 2 pick by the Miami Heat in 2008 out of Kansas State. He played 11 NBA seasons for seven teams and averaged 12.4 points and 4.7 rebounds.
West, 43, starred on the St. Joseph's team that went 27-0 in the 2003-04 regular season before Boston drafted him 24th overall in 2004. He played eight NBA seasons for four teams and averaged 9.7 points and 3.6 assists.
The rest of the card
Deshae Frost stopped YK Osiris in the second round. In the main event Yera beat Evelyn Ortiz by unanimous decision after Ortiz stepped in for her sister Wendy, who did not clear medical checks.
