Fitness influencer Khiana Smith is still in intensive care in Bali after a brain infection nearly took her life. She says she feels "absolutely helpless."

In a TikTok update the rising creator told followers she has been "bedbound in ICU in Bali with a brain infection that could have killed me."

A vacation turned medical crisis

Smith, who has close to 87,000 followers between TikTok plus Instagram, says doctors found bacterial meningitis during her trip. She was later diagnosed with pneumonia as well.

It began as a simple headache. She said it quickly grew into "extreme head pains, dizziness, slurred speech" plus blurred vision. She also developed a severe sensitivity to light.

Memory loss after nine days

Smith has now spent 9 days in the ICU. She said she has "lost a lot of memory, like, I really struggle to remember things."

She is still confined to her hospital bed. "I feel absolutely helpless," she said. "I just wanna go home."
