Golden State is planning ahead for a long season and wants its fans to plan ahead too.

Coach Steve Kerr said the Warriors will manage Stephen Curry's workload this season. He suggested fans be mindful of the schedule before buying tickets because people often come out expecting to see Curry or other veterans only to learn they are resting on a back-to-back. Kerr said Curry will not be the only veteran getting that careful treatment.

Butler and Moody target early 2027

Two key players will not be ready when the season starts. Jimmy Butler is working back from a torn right ACL and Moses Moody is recovering from a ruptured left patellar tendon. The team is hopeful both can return early in 2027.

Moody is considered ahead in his rehab and could be back in December or January. Butler might return in January or February. When asked about a target date Butler smiled and said he and the team know it while everyone else will find out when they find out.

Flipping last season's script

Golden State was 25-19 when Butler went down last season and went 12-26 after that. Kerr said this year could play out the opposite way with the team getting Butler back around February instead of losing him then. The goal is to stay above water early and build momentum for the stretch run.

Butler is on an expiring $56.8 million deal and becomes eligible for an extension on Feb. 6. He said he does not pay attention to his contract and that his job is to compete and be a leader for the young players.
