Josh Janus was studying engineering and driving for DoorDash, saving toward a duplex he could live in. A BiggerPockets connection introduced him to young investors in Columbus and he left the engineering plan.

The first win he cites is about $3,000 for connecting an investor with a property over the phone. Then 11 deals fell through. In the first year he says unreliable contractors cost him about $250,000.

He built a construction crew he puts at about 50 people and talks about a portfolio around $15 million with monthly revenue over $300,000, run remotely. He was 24 in the episode.

The deals that died

The Upflip hour spends time on the 11 misses and the contractor year, which is the part that makes the later portfolio readable. He does not skip the losses.

The monthly figure is his. The start was a duplex goal and a driving shift.
