A hairless cat at a gas station found this couple their wedding venue, then a cop pranked them on their wedding night

Most people pump their gas and leave. Kara Lewis Webb and West Webb, an engaged couple from California, stopped on the way to Nashville and spotted a man with a hairless cat riding on his shoulders. They had never seen a Sphynx cat in real life, so of course they walked over.

The man was Buck Yates and the cat was Romeo. A few minutes into the chat Buck mentioned that he happened to own a wedding venue nearby. The couple had only been touring venues back home, but Buck promised it would be worth the detour. So they followed a stranger with a hairless cat down a country road.

"Blindly trusting a man with a hairless cat on the side of the road isn't your ideal scenario," Kara admitted. "Looking back, thank God we trusted our gut!" The place turned out to be Ramble Creek, an all-inclusive venue between Chattanooga and Knoxville with a white barn, a vineyard and rolling fields. The chef whipped up brisket mac and cheese on the spot and the staff invited them to spend the night.

Kara posted the gas station meeting and the surprise tour online in September and the video passed 8 million views. The couple went on to book the venue and got married there on Oct. 11.

The wedding night plot twist

The fairy tale had one more chapter. About five minutes after the newlyweds drove off toward their honeymoon, blue and red lights filled the rearview mirror. An officer walked up with a flashlight and asked West if he had ever been to California. Then he asked about an unpaid speeding ticket there and said he had a warrant for the groom's arrest.

"My heart sank," Kara said. For a moment neither of them knew what was happening. Then the officer smiled and said, "I'm kidding." He congratulated them, told them to slow down and walked away while West laughed, "That was insane."

That clip has topped 9 million views. The couple says they would love to buy the officer lunch and they already know how they will tell this story for the rest of their lives: a cat found the venue and a cop nearly stole the show.
