Elon Musk is lucky to live in Texas and should stay off its beaches, Gina Hinojosa says
The Democrat running for Texas governor is not worried Elon Musk will leave and accused Greg Abbott of trying to hand him Boca Chica State Park.

Gina Hinojosa is not losing sleep over Elon Musk. The Democrat running for governor of Texas says the billionaire is fortunate to live there and should leave the state's beaches alone.
Iced tea and a billionaire
Hinojosa sat down for a casual chat that started with Whataburger iced tea and quickly turned to the world's richest man.
She accused Gov. Greg Abbott of trying to turn Boca Chica State Park over to Musk. She said she will not let billionaires run the show.
Not worried about him leaving
She was asked whether Musk might move his companies out of Texas if she wins. Hinojosa brushed the idea off.
"Nobody wants to leave Texas," she said. She added that Texans know their worth and that Musk is lucky to be there.
She was also asked whether Musk is a genius or simply a businessman who hires smart people. Hinojosa stayed careful. She said she does not know him well enough to say. She was clear that she does not want him getting taxpayer money or public beaches.
Baseball nets and debate jabs
The talk was not all policy. Hinojosa said her son already has plans for the backyard of the governor's mansion. If she takes office he hopes to set up a net there for batting practice.
She also needled Abbott for turning down a debate with her. She joked that anyone who gets time with the governor must be a major donor.
