Elon Musk dropped Vivian Wilson from his health insurance a day after she came out according to her mother

Elon Musk's first wife is sharing what she says went on in private after their daughter Vivian Wilson came out as transgender.

Justine Wilson speaks in a forthcoming documentary called Musk. She says the billionaire reacted to Vivian's transition as though one of his children had died.

A public split

Musk once said in public that he had lost Vivian to what he called the "woke mind virus." Justine says those words hurt their daughter deeply.

In her view the comments were Elon's way of sending Vivian a message by broadcasting it to everyone. She also says he never made any effort to mend the relationship. Making amends, she suggests, is not who he is.

The insurance claim

Justine recalls that Elon asked her to pass along a message to Vivian that he would always love her. According to Justine he then ended Vivian's health insurance one day later.

Father and daughter have been estranged ever since. Vivian stopped using the Musk surname several years ago. She recently starred in a run of ads warning about artificial intelligence. In one she says some things are not meant to be fixed.

Musk has not publicly responded to the documentary's claims.
