Ellen DeGeneres chips in $5,000 for the family of her late show producer Matthew Wright
Ellen DeGeneres gave $5,000 to a fundraiser for the family of former Ellen show producer Matthew Wright, who died suddenly at 52. Allison Holker Boss also gave.

Ellen DeGeneres is helping out the loved ones of Matthew Wright. The former executive producer of her talk show died suddenly last week at 52.
A fundraiser for Wright's family shows a $5,000 gift listed under Ellen's name. Allison Holker Boss gave $500. She is the widow of Stephen "tWitch" Boss, who served as Ellen's longtime DJ.
Other names from the show also stepped up. Andy Lassner, who spent years as Ellen's top producer, put in $1,000. "Dancing with the Stars" executive producer Conrad Green matched that amount.
A sudden loss
According to the fundraiser, Wright died on Friday, October 30, while he was working remotely in Los Angeles. His family called it an "unfathomable tragedy."
The page says Wright and his husband Justin both lost their jobs over the summer. That left the family scrambling to pay for bringing his body home to New York along with a funeral and a memorial service in Los Angeles.
Tributes from the Ellen family
Ellen posted a tearful video on Instagram Monday. She described Wright as funny and smart as well as kind. She said everyone on the show loved him.
She also shared that the two had been planning a new project together before he died.
Lassner posted his own tribute. He said Wright had stopped by the set of "The Jennifer Hudson Show" only hours before he died.
Whatever remains after the bills are paid is set aside in a trust for Sami, his niece.
