Lexington County officials tied the 39-year-old's June death to cardiac dysrhythmia and extra heartbeats and said her husband was never a suspect.

Officials have finally explained how Elena Katherine Moore died. The South Carolina personal trainer suffered complications from cardiac dysrhythmia along with premature ventricular contractions.

The coroner's findings

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher shared the cause and manner of death at a Friday news conference. Her body turned up in June roughly seven days after she went missing. She was 39.

Her autopsy showed a blood alcohol level of .089. Fisher cautioned that decomposition may have changed that reading. Tests also found no trace of a heart medication she had been prescribed.

The coroner said the autopsy turned up no bruises, cuts, gunshot or stab wounds. Investigators found no sign of blunt trauma or strangulation either.

Her final days

Fisher said Moore had been diagnosed with mental health conditions that included ADHD as well as anxiety.

Shortly before she vanished, Moore went to a hospital where doctors found she was having a severe mental health crisis. She was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold.

She stayed in a medical facility for five days until June 11. Staff contacted her husband, Brannon Slice, when she was released. They then sent her off in a cab. Officials say she stopped at a CVS and bought four bottles of wine plus a bottle of water.

Moore later left a Planet Fitness and walked toward a stretch of woods. Slice reported her missing the next day. A body dressed in clothing like hers was found days later and was later confirmed to be Moore.

Her husband

A spokesperson said Slice is not a suspect and never has been. Fisher went out of her way to say he had tried to help his wife manage her physical and mental health struggles.

What friends say

One friend said Moore seemed paranoid in the weeks before she died. She had also posted cryptic messages that hinted at trouble with someone close to her.

Another friend, Mendy Miller, said Moore had been focused on getting healthy. That effort included cutting people she saw as "toxic" out of her life.
