Cornell defendant Diego Sarabia asks judge to gag Jane Doe's lawyer
Lawyers for Cornell defendant Diego Sarabia want a New York judge to limit public comments by Jane Doe attorney Thomas Giuffra about the civil case.

A Cornell fraternity brother named in the Jane Doe civil suit wants her attorney quieter outside the courtroom. His legal team says too much of the fight is playing out on TV.
Court papers seek limits
Counsel for Diego Sarabia petitioned a New York judge to curb how often Thomas Giuffra talks to the press, according to newly filed documents.
They describe Giuffra's interviews as a planned media drive. In those appearances he has charged Cornell with hiding misconduct, said proof was wiped away and floated the idea that additional men may have joined the alleged attack.
The motion also references earlier coverage of Giuffra's remark that brothers at the house cared more about shielding themselves than finding the truth.
Fear of a tainted jury
Sarabia's lawyers insist the buzz was arranged. They claim Jane Doe's side was already briefing reporters before the complaint hit the docket.
They want the court to throttle Giuffra's sound bites so future jurors are not swayed before trial starts.
Any gag order they propose would bind both camps. It would shrink what either side may say in public and stop them from leaking sealed material or evidence that is still private.
Background of the lawsuit
Jane Doe's complaint says several men sexually assaulted her at the Chi Phi house in October 2024. The allegations have fueled nationwide anger and put Cornell's response under a harsh spotlight.
