David Pelayo watched his dad run a thrift store out of a shed and learned eBay from a cramped second-floor office. In high school he says flea-market flips brought in about $3,000 a month.

A 70-hour job later pushed him to resell full time. Electronics hit about $500,000 in revenue until 2024, when the supplier shut down.

He moved to clothing instead of waiting the gadget pipeline out. The episode walks through Goodwill outlets, truckloads of inventory and sales across eBay, Poshmark and wholesale. He says that mix now moves about $80,000 of product a month.

A supplier that disappeared

On Upflip the useful part is the switch: what he did the month the electronics source ended. Clothing buying is a different pile of risk.

The monthly figure is his. The start was a shed, a dad and a teenager listing at night.
