Chev Clarke has now beaten Chris Billam-Smith three times. This one came with a knockout.

Clarke dropped the former WBO cruiserweight champion twice in the seventh round and referee Lee Every stopped the fight at 1:24 of the round in the main event of Zuffa Boxing 12 on Saturday at the Copper Box Arena in London.

Billam-Smith went in as a heavy favorite. Clarke, a former British Olympian born in Jamaica, beat him twice as amateurs in 2016 and improved to 13-2 with 10 knockouts. Billam-Smith fell to 22-3.

Right hand all night

The early rounds were physical with plenty of clinching on the inside. Clarke started to take over in the fifth when he hurt Billam-Smith with a clean right hand from range.

He opened the seventh with another right that put Billam-Smith down for the first time in his career. Billam-Smith got up but went down again on another right and the fight was waved off with him pinned on the ropes.

"It has been 10 years, but I don't have no beef with Chris," Clarke said. "He has been the world champion, so give him his credit."

Billam-Smith said he felt he was winning before the knockdowns. "We have had three fights and he has won them all, but I would love to run it back and get him eventually," he said.

Bentley edges Mosley Jr.

Former WBO middleweight champion Denzel Bentley won his Zuffa debut in his home city with a unanimous decision over Shane Mosley Jr. Bentley dropped Mosley with a right hand in the second round and won 96-94, 96-93 and 95-94.

Bentley was stripped of his title late last month. He called for a shot at WBC champion Carlos Adames or a fight with Conor Benn, who was ringside.

Unbeaten 21-year-old heavyweight Da'Mazion Vanhouter scored three body-shot knockdowns to stop Ivan Balaz in the first round and moved to 14-0. Umar Dzambekov knocked out Zach Parker with a body shot in the fourth.

Dana White said after the card that he hopes to bring Vanhouter back on Dec. 11 in Wales on the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua undercard.
