Arch Manning and No. 19 Texas hold off No. 7 Ole Miss 34-27 after blowing a 21-point lead
Arch Manning threw a touchdown pass and ran for two more as Texas snapped a two-game skid with a wild 34-27 win over Ole Miss that ended on an interception.

Texas built a big lead, nearly gave it all away and then held on. Arch Manning threw a touchdown pass and ran for two more scores as the No. 19 Longhorns beat No. 7 Ole Miss 34-27 on Saturday night in Austin.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak for Texas (5-2, 2-2 SEC). The Longhorns had dropped back-to-back games against unranked teams and fallen from the No. 1 spot. They had also blown double-digit leads in both of those losses.
Manning had not run for a touchdown all season before Saturday. His second one broke a 24-24 tie in the fourth quarter. He faked a handoff that fooled everyone and walked into the end zone untouched from 1 yard out.
A 24-3 lead disappears
Texas led 24-3 at halftime after a goal-line stand late in the second quarter. The second half started badly. Manning was hit from his blind side on the first drive and Ole Miss defensive lineman Kam Franklin recovered the loose ball in the end zone for a touchdown.
Franklin later sacked Manning so hard that the quarterback had to leave for a medical check. He came back on the next series.
Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss then threw two touchdown passes to Horatio Fields. The second one, a contested 27-yard catch, tied the game early in the fourth quarter. Texas helped the comeback with 14 penalties for 121 yards, both season highs.
A wild finish
Raleek Brown ran for 157 yards for Texas. His 47-yard run set up Manning's go-ahead score. Texas later went up by 10 but Ole Miss recovered an onside kick in the final two minutes to stay alive.
The Rebels got one last shot. Chambliss threw into the end zone on the final play and Texas safety Jelani McDonald intercepted it to end the game.
Texas receiver Cam Coleman had a tough night. He dropped what should have been a 59-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and was helped off the field after landing hard on his left shoulder on the first play of the second half.
Ole Miss (5-2, 3-2) hosts Auburn next Saturday. Texas hosts Mississippi State.
