Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig are engaged after a spring proposal

Marilee Fiebig and Andrew Shue are making it official. Shue, the "Melrose Place" star, asked her to marry him this past spring. The two are now engaged.

Shue says the couple feel "very grateful and hopeful" as they look ahead.

From friends to fiancés

The pair started out as friends before their bond grew into something more. Shue says they have found their "happy ending" in each other and are now planning a wedding.

Their story is tied to another famous romance. Shue was once married to Amy Robach. Fiebig was married to T.J. Holmes. Robach and Holmes got together while they worked side by side as co-anchors on "GMA."

Growing through the hard part

Shue was candid about how tough the fallout from those breakups was for him.

"I had to grow through a lot of pain and a lot of struggle and a lot of humility," he said. "I think the magic of love is when you go from a need to giving."

Robach and Holmes have since married each other after applying for a marriage license in Arkansas. Now their former spouses are heading down the aisle too.
