Atlanta Dream guard Allisha Gray says her injured left hand is holding up, but she is not at full strength with a WNBA title within reach.

"I am feeling fine, but I am not 100%," Gray said Friday after practice. She sat on the bench with an ice pack on her hand before slipping it into a black Velcro brace. She says she wears the brace any time she is not doing basketball activities.

Gray hurt the hand in Game 1 of Atlanta's semifinal series against the New York Liberty. She had what she called a "minor procedure" and missed most of that series. She said she does not have screws in her hand. The two scars on it come from the procedure, but she would not share more details.

Playing for eight fingers

Gray returned for Game 1 of the Finals against the Golden State Valkyries, a 68-64 loss for the Dream. Through three games she is averaging 15 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists. Her shot has not been there yet. She is hitting 28.9% from the field and 22.2% from 3-point range.

"But the biggest thing for me is giving myself a lot of grace. I am literally playing for eight fingers," Gray said. "It's knowing I am not 100% 'Lish,' the one that can hit shots and things like that. But if I give myself grace, I know the other ways I can impact the game ... I just am trying not to be so hard on myself."

In Game 3 she briefly left the court after Valkyries forward Gabby Williams made contact with her left hand. She came back a few minutes later.

One win from a title

Atlanta won Games 2 and 3 to take a 2-1 series lead. The Dream can move within one win of the championship in Game 4 on Saturday at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Golden State has said it needs to show more fight after losing the last two games by a combined 40 points.
