Kids in one Michigan town got their own polling place on Election Day and the big question was pizza
While parents voted in Allendale, Michigan, kids cast real-looking ballots for cheese, pepperoni, bacon or pineapple. The winning topping is due soon.

Election Day can feel heavy for grown-ups. In Allendale, Michigan, the youngest voters had a much tastier question to settle. Which pizza topping is the best?
On Tuesday, Nov. 3, Allendale set up a polling place just for kids inside Life Stream Church in Ottawa County. While moms and dads filled out their real ballots, children could sign in, pick up a ballot of their own and step into a little voting booth.
The choices were cheese, pepperoni, bacon and pineapple. Yes, the great pineapple debate made it onto the ballot.
Stickers, bracelets and a locked box
Organizers went all in to make it feel official. Once kids marked their pick they slipped the ballot into a locked box labeled for kids only. Then they collected a voting sticker and a bracelet on the way out.
The town even gave the kids precinct its own color. Allendale sorts its five regular precincts by color so the little voters were assigned orange.
County Clerk Justin Roebuck said the best part was welcoming children into the process and showing them how voting works. The whole thing began with a simpler idea. In past elections poll workers would hand bored kids homemade ballots cut from scrap paper while their parents voted.
The results are coming
So who won? Nobody knows yet. Officials said the pizza tally will be shared after they finish counting the adult votes. A local radio host already put her money on pepperoni but pineapple fans are not giving up hope.
Whatever the winner turns out to be, a whole crop of future voters now know exactly how to cast a ballot. And they got a sticker for it.
