Yaxel Lendeborg just paid his mom back in the biggest way he could.

The Golden State Warriors rookie surprised his mother Yissel Raposo with a new home in California. He shared the moment in a video on Friday titled "This one's for Mama Yax."

With friends and family gathered out front Lendeborg handed his mother a box and told her "Welcome home." She teared up as she pulled out the key and the two walked through the front door together.

The talk that changed everything

Lendeborg has credited his mother with turning his life around. In his senior year of high school in 2019 she told him "There's no more time to mess around" when he needed to take 10 community college courses in one year to graduate.

He said the house took two to three months to secure and will help his mom finish her move from New Jersey to California. "Lifelong goal has finally been accomplished. Blessed!" he wrote.

Lendeborg wrote that no gesture is big enough to thank his mom for everything she poured into him but called the moment "pretty special and one I'll never forget." "She deserves it all," he added. "For me, it's bigger than basketball."

From junior college to the lottery

The 24-year-old played three seasons at Arizona Western and two at UAB before a final year at Michigan, where he helped the Wolverines win the national title. Golden State drafted him 11th overall.

He is averaging 21 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists through nine games and scored a career-high 37 on Nov. 1.
