Two shootings at Winston-Salem State University leave one person dead and three hurt
Police say two separate shootings on the North Carolina HBCU's campus Saturday night killed one person and wounded three. The lockdown has been lifted.

One person was killed and three others were wounded in two separate shootings on the campus of Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina on Saturday night, police said.
Winston-Salem police said officers were first called about gunfire at around 9:45 p.m. The campus of the historically Black university was placed on lockdown while officers searched the area.
Police leaders gave an update at a news conference at about 1:45 a.m. Sunday. They did not describe what led to either shooting, whether the two were connected or the conditions of the three people who were hurt. They did not say whether anyone was in custody.
"Our condolences go out to the families, to the friends and anyone who witnessed this," officials said.
Students back in their dorms
By about 1:25 a.m. police were letting students walk back to their residence halls. The lockdown was later lifted. The department said extra officers will patrol on and around the campus in the coming days.
The gunfire broke out during the school's homecoming weekend, when students, alumni and visitors pack the campus for one of the biggest celebrations of the year. Students and parents posted messages overnight saying they had been told to stay in their rooms.
The names of the victims had not been released early Sunday. Police said the investigation is ongoing and asked anyone with information to come forward.
